Recruitment of Under-Represented Students

Currently, there are no examples for Elementary School.

Currently, there are no examples for Middle School.

Example

The school district is an open enrollment district so recruiting is necessary. School offers tours and a showcase night. The school has identified that more female enrollment is required for greater balance and to move toward increasing “traditionally under-represented” (females, economically disadvantaged, EL…) students in Science and Math.

Key Strengths

  • Identifying the need to increase enrollment of “traditionally under-represented” students is the first step to taking concrete actions.

Example

Girls were heavily recruited in engineering in order to ensure a diversified balance of students in the classroom. Freshmen, sophomore, and junior students were recruited in order to matriculate students into the Advanced Engineering Class during the following school year.

Key Strengths

  • Girls were heavily recruited for Engineering class to increase interest and equity in STEM.
